Teaching
Statement
I
am very grateful for the opportunity given to me to be a Chinese
teacher at CSCCI
teaching 4th grade in Chinese.
I am so delighted to see them
learn Chinese language
in learning new characters, and writing and making good
progress.
While
it was working in Shanghai Ministry of Aerospace after I gained
master degree
in material science, I taught a
class of 30 engineers and
technicians in material science,
math and physics and got very positive complements from them.
These
experiences are very exciting and rewarding and led me to seek
the opportunities
to teaching Chinese in a public
school in the United States.
I
try to stimulate their interest and get them genuinely involved
in the process of learning.
Students are encouraged to
actively participate in the class in
several ways. After teaching
a lesson, every student, for example, is asked to give a class
presentation practicing words,
making sentences, and letting other students to make their own
judgment if it is right or wrong.
This experience has proved to be beneficial to enhance the
students’ self confidence and helps
them to learn and remember
what have been taught. The teacher
needs to be very patient, to repeat if necessary, to present a
diversity of materials and
techniques, and to get students actively
involved. I get the greatest inspiration from my students. |
