Teaching Statement
     T
here are more dimensions to Chinese language learning than simple memorization of words and grammatical
structures; as a teacher, I feel that part of my job is to bridge the cultural divide between the USA and China.  I
believe in presenting information in a palatable way to students.  The key to learning a language is communication,
and the only communication worth taking part in is meaningful communication.  Therefore students should learn
how to speak about what interests them, in addition to the basics necessary in day-to-day survival in a foreign country.
