Teaching Statement
As a teacher, I always have empathy for my students, because of the different family
background and situation, so their chance to speak Chinese is not equal. My teaching
style and techniques are most importantly by listening to my students. I give my students
many times to speak in class. I like to use interesting activities and outside studying to
encourage my students to express their ideas. I want students to feel personally changed
by their participation. I understand that to learn a second language is a long way for non-
native speaker, so I want to create an enjoyable environment to my students. I try to
maintain a very lively and interactive classroom. Teaching is a learning experience. I learn
to be flexible in my methodology and approach, to deal with unusual students and learning
strategies. Learning from the students I teach and listening to their experiences has helped
me to make materials and course topics. It also helps to improve myself.
